Clinique's Almost Powder

I love this product. I know, I'm an avon lady. I haven't had a chance to try all that much of theirs yet though.

I'm a sucker for a free gift. Who isn't? Well, Bergner's Clinique counter is having their gift with purchase, and I had to go get mine. I purchased the Almost Powder b/c it was the closest in price to the minimum for the gift... but the truth is, I absolutely LOVE it!!! The coverage is medium, but the formula feels very light. I am so pleased!

Snail Nail drying is better...

Tonight's quick entry is all about the phalanges. What girly girl doesn't love to paint her nails? Ask most of us who the best nail polish comes from, and you will overwhelmingly find it's OPI. It's true. It's great paint for your nails. A nice glossy finish that doesn't readily chip.

I recently tried Avon's quick dry formula and was reminded why I stopped using quick dry formulas in general. They suck. Your nails might dry fast, but they will look crappy. At least on my nails, they always do a weird bubble thing. I hate it.

The Avon "Nailwear" formula is just like OPI's though... and again more affordable. Avon stole my nail polish business!

Bare Minerals...

This brand is all the rage these days, and I myself have been hooked on it for a while now. I have to admit, it didn't break me out and I liked the light feeling with decent coverage. It has a tendency to make me shiny, though I kinda like it... I have a glow. =)

I was planning on trying the Avon version which is called Smooth Minerals. I gotta figure it's similar enough, and it is definitely more affordable. I suppose I'll go ahead and try it, but I'm considering going back to a creamy foundation and regular loose powder... or maybe the smooth minerals powder on top of the cream.

I have a friend who is well educated in skin care, and makeup... in fact teaches theatre makeup at the college level. His opinion of bare minerals is overall very negative. He believes they clog women's pores up. That hasn't really been my experience.

I have another friend who will only use the bare minerals, or some kind of mineral makeup. Like I said... it's all the rage. I'm guilty too, but mom got me hooked up with it and I can't say no to make up!

We'll take this topic up again another day. Perhaps even tomorrow.


A different comparison I would like to make is between Avon's Magix Face Perfector and other face perfectors (like the bare escentuals primer). Others I have tried ALL left a residue. This one has a powdery finish and controls shine, etc. I can't recommend it enough. I LOVE it!!

Beauty Blogging Day One

Hello! If you are reading this you probably know me, but I hope to get good enough at it that more than my mother wants to read this. =)

Let's get right to it. Today my first shipment of Avon arrived. I am my own best customer at this point! My mother is second. She rocks.

The first product I would like to review is the Clearskin Professional
Acne treatment system. The ad proclaims that it's "clinically proven to be as effective as proactiv solution". So far, so good. I like it better actually. The facial scrub (step 1) is wonderful. It is exfoliating like the proactive, but makes my face feel tingly and fresh. The toner (step 2) is packaged as wipes, which is an extremely convenient way to get your toner done. The recovery cream (step 3) is similar to the proactiv but I like it better. For one thing, it's packaged nicer in a pump dispenser.

All in all, the Clearskin Professional Acne treatment system has successfully stolen my business away from proactiv.

Tomorrow I will give my review on several more products. ... including my new favorite, Avon's Magix Face Perfector.
